The Council’s Planning Services are responsible for providing a comprehensive service including development management, planning policy and building control. We are seeking a Business Support Officer who will perform a key role providing support within the Planning Services area.

You will provide important administrative and technical support to the processing of Planning and Building Control applications and assist in the processing of Planning and Enforcement appeals within the legislative timetables.

You will have an eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a busy office. You will have experience of carrying out a range of administrative tasks using computerised and manual information systems including data input and retrieval, recording payments, banking cheques, responding to customer enquiries as well as filing, photocopying and dealing with incoming post and emails.

You will need good communication skills, both written and verbal, to deal with customer enquiries on a range of different functions by email and over the telephone. Good IT skills and the ability to work accurately and methodically are essential.
